Faculty Feature: Professor Arwen Matos-Wood

Faculty Feature is a series in the Blue Tribune that recognizes the excellent professors and staff
of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ.
This week we're highlighting Prof. Arwen Matos-Wood, Associate Professor of Marketing.
What brought you to Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ? How long have you been teaching?
Dr. Quatro brought me to Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ. I was an adjunct professor at another university,
looking to make a full-time transition to academics from the corporate marketing world.
I started teaching in 2017 and joined Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ full-time for the 2018/2019 school
year.
What do you love about teaching at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ?
I love the students – past and present. It is a real joy meeting prospective students
and seeing them again when they join us on campus!
What's your favorite Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ tradition?
Culturefest was my first on-campus event and I try to participate every year.
What is a current research project or area of interest you're excited about?
My dissertation on corporate philanthropy and consumer perceptions is my primary focus;
however, some of my on-going research involves institution decision-making on corporate
giving/social activities.
What's one of your favorite cultural or family traditions?
We adopted an Easter tradition from my husband’s family. We make a 3-D lamb-shaped
poundcake with lemon frosting and calla lily buttermints from scratch.
Tell us a little about your family:
Joe, my husband, and I have two daughters and a bunch of pets – Cookie, Sugar, Oreo,
and Cosette (named after a character from Les Misérables).
Anything else prospective students should know about you?
Two things:
When my office door is open, stop by for a visit.
I am a student, as well. I expect to have my Ph.D. degree in 2022.
